Maryann Dwyer & Encircle Artist Group

Maryann Dwyer’s watercolour landscapes circumnavigate the coast of Tasmania. Her first solo exhibition I Am Here is presented alongside a collection of works by other artists who, together with Maryann, form the Encircle Artist Group.

The Encircle Artist Group is an “art for therapy” group from Glenorchy and Greater Hobart. Through regular meetings and workshops the group have come together to form a supportive community through artmaking.

I Am Here is presented in partnership with Moonah Arts Centre.

Melanie Roach

In her exhibition Floe, Melanie Roach explores the dynamic relationship between modern society and the natural world.

Informed by a recent 8-month trip around Australia, Melanie intertwines newly adopted turquoise hues and bold shapes with layered organic shapes, a dense colour palette and a series of repetitive line markings that are heavily influenced by the Tasmanian wilderness.

Michael Schlitz & Karen Knight

Artist Michael Schlitz and poet Karen Knight launch “Balancing” – an artist book of woodcut prints and poems.

Michael and Karen first collaborated in 2013 when Bett Gallery teamed them up for the Poets & Painters exhibition. Their collaboration was so successful that it led to a close friendship and the long-term working project Balancing – a finely tuned balancing act between printmaker and poet.

“Balancing” will be available for purchase at the book launch on Thurs 6 Feb, 6pm and for the duration of the exhibition.
Karen Knight was assisted through Arts Tasmania by the Minister for the Arts.
